Oats is rich in nutrients, vitamins and minerals and it provides more protein than the majority of grains. It includes anti-oxidants and beta-glucan, a soluble fiber that benefits various bodily systems. The soluble beta-glucan fiber encourages normal bowel emptying and guards against constipation. Additionally, it promotes healthy gut flora, which could lessen the signs and symptoms of IBS and other intestinal issues. Beta-glucan also helps to reduce cholesterol. Oat bran eaters in one research had their overall cholesterol drop by 23%. The reduced cholesterol is thought to be caused by a number of bodily systems.
Oats contain polyphenol antioxidants that have both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Polyphenols have been found to lessen oxidative stress at the cellular level, assisting in the prevention of aging and illness. In essence, oxidative stress is an imbalance between the body's ability to combat the negative effects of free radicals and the generation of cell-damaging ones. Additionally, polyphenols have been linked to protection against heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and obesity because of their bodyguard-like properties.
Because they are high in fiber, oats fill you up more quickly than other breakfast foods. Additionally, they cause a slow release of glucose into the blood, which keeps people full for a long time and discourages binge eating. Regular oatmeal consumers tend to maintain a constant weight and are less prone to obesity.
Overall, oats is a healthy ingredient and can be easily introduced in our diet. You can use it for sweet or savory recipes.
