Baked Camembert with Olives
In particular, the town of Camembert in Normandy is where Camembert cheese first appeared. Early in the 18th century, according to historical sources, Camembert cheese was first mentioned. According to a narrative, the cheese was created during the French Revolution by farmer Marie Harel.Officially called as Camembert de Normandie, this original Camembert was granted a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) by the European Union in 1983. This means that only cheeses produced in specific regions of Normandy using raw milk from cows that are at least 50% Normande can be marketed as Camembert de Normandie. But regardless of where it is made, any mild, soft, small-format bloomy rind cheese is now referred to as "camembert" in general.Camembert is a great complement to cheese platters and tastes best when served at room temperature with crackers, fruit, nuts, and slices of baguette. When baked, Camembert will have a little stronger flavor than baked brie, whether it is covered in pastry or not. Slices or chunks of Camembert can be melted and added to gratins, casseroles, sauces, paninis, pizzas, and flatbreads. One of my favorite ways to eat Camembert cheese is baked with something on top. I love how the cheese spreads and how good is it eaten warm with some toasted bread. Camembert cheese goes well with berries jam but is very good with baked olives also. Is much to say that this is a recipe, is very tasty, easy to make and if you want to impress your guests, this is the recipe you have to try.
